Silicon Power SSD S70 Unboxing.
Lately I’m really getting tired of the
bootup speed of my computer being slow an unbearable. A couple of my friends
upgraded their laptops with SSDs and are all bragging d about how SSD can speed
up the performance, and I think it’s about time to get a SSD!
I’ve done some research on SSDs, such
as performance, capacity, price and liability. And when I saw Silicon Power’s
S70, what attracts me the most is it’s “slim type 7mm for Ultra Slim Notebook,’ says on the product feature.
Having a desktop and an ultra-slim notebook, I think it’s best for me to go for
a SSD which can suit both. Actually this is not my first time buying their
products, I got a Diamond D05 a
few months ago, and am quite satisfied by its performance and the design. So I
decided to buy another Silicon Power’s product, Slim S70.
And now I am ready to show you this S70
and do some performance checks.
Other information is provided on the
back, including a 3-year warranty and it’s made in Taiwan.
Taking out all the accessories in the
kit; an installation guide, screws, and S70.
Four screws inside the box, perfectly
fit in the bottom of the plastic case. It makes the screws “stay” in the box.
Here comes Silicon Power S70, surrounded
by a plastic case. Fully-protecting my SSD during delivery.
S70 is SATA III interface with the
capacity of 240 GB. I like the brush-lined touches on the surface. And when you
take a close look at it, the color changes under the different source of light.
Warranty sticker on the side, says “Warrenty Void if Broken.”
Certifications are printed on the back. The drawback of the design is that
it’s not fingerprint free.
Look at how thin S70 is. I was quite amazed by its thickness, so I
compared S70 with a pencil.
Compared to Diamond05, S70 looks tiny and small.
Its width is only half of D05’s

AS SSD Benchmark
The
AS SSD benchmark shows S70 delivers an outstanding performance, getting the
score of 761 in using SandForce
SF-2281 controller in reading and writing.
Getting
the speed 496.6 MB/s in read and 497.0 MB/s in write, which is quite good.
ATTO
557
MB/s in read and 533 MB/s in write, and the performance is better than SP
claims on their box.
Compared
to traditional hard drives and SATA II SSD, Silicon Power S70 SATA III 240GB
certainly give outs an excellent performance in read and write, as well as in
bootup times. Before it would take me around 2~3 mins to finish bootup; but
now, with the SP S70 in it, it
only takes less than one min to bootup my computer, much faster than I could
imagine. So far, I am happy with it in term of bootup speed, shorter time to
run softwares and the performance. It’s definitely a worth-buying item!
